Our Mission
The strategic mission of the Centres for Open Education is to promote the spread of the Russian language and strengthen its position as a language of international communication. The Centres' effective functioning fosters a sustainable interest in Russia and Russian education while expanding opportunities for foreign citizens to study the Russian language and culture abroad.
About the Project
Pursuant to the directive of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, since 2024 the federal operator of this network has been the My History Foundation for the Support of Humanitarian Sciences.
The My History Foundation for the Support of Humanitarian Sciences, with the support of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, is implementing a project to develop a comprehensive network of Centres for Open Education in the Russian Language and Russian Language Teaching Abroad (COE). The project aims to increase interest in the Russian language, strengthen its global standing, and expand international and humanitarian ties. This initiative has already reached 70 countries across the CIS, Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe.
Educational activities at the Centres are open to everyone wishing to improve their Russian language skills through programmes developed by experienced teachers of Russian as a foreign language, tailored to individual needs and professional goals.
Centres conduct professional development courses for foreign teachers who teach Russian as a foreign language or conduct educational activities in Russian.

International Forum of Ministers of Education "Shaping the Future"
Within the business programme of the Forum, representatives of ministries of education discuss global trends and challenges in education, digital transformation and innovation, the role of online learning, inclusive education, teacher development, and education quality. They also explore issues of preschool and secondary education, working with children with disabilities, career guidance, artificial intelligence in education, and opportunities for international cooperation.
The Forum also includes an exhibition showcasing the achievements and best practices of leading Russian educational and outreach organisations.
Held annually since 2023.
Bridge of Friendship
A series of themed sessions for children learning or studying in Russian, conducted both abroad (Armenia, Abkhazia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, etc.) and at Russian children’s centres — Artek, Okean, and Smena.
The project aims to create an environment where children from different countries can unlock their creative potential and deepen their knowledge of the Russian language, history, and culture through modern educational formats.
Teaching the Great
"Teaching the Great" is an educational and outreach programme for foreign teachers designed for maximum immersion into the Russian linguistic and cultural environment. It also includes forums to discuss and address current issues in teaching and promoting Russian abroad.
The project targets schoolteachers, university professors, and students specialising in Russian language studies. Programmes are also delivered abroad in cooperation with local partner institutions.
International Olympiad on the History of Russia
An olympiad held in a blended (in-person and remote) format for foreign citizens interested in the history of Russia, with arrangements made for the finalists—both team and individual—to travel to Russian cities for the in-person stage. The purpose of the event is to preserve an objective historical memory and counteract the falsification of history by fostering interest in the study of Russia’s past, introducing participants to the cultural values of the Russian state and its centuries-long history, as well as promoting the study of Russian as a foreign language and contributing to the formation of a positive international image of the Russian Federation.
Festivals of the Russian Language and Education Abroad
As part of organising and holding events aimed at promoting the Russian language and Russian education abroad, the national operators of the Centres for Open Education conduct large-scale activities for various categories of participants — such as festivals, forums, congresses, competitions, and similar events — in foreign countries.
В 2025 году Форум объединил свыше 100 представителей из более чем 30 стран. Деловая программа была посвящена глобальным тенденциям в образовании, цифровой трансформации, инновационным решениям, роли ИИ и онлайн-обучения, вопросам инклюзии, качества образования и путям развития национальных образовательных систем.
Ролик отражает ключевые обсуждения, идеи и решения, которые формируют будущее мирового образования.
Международный Форум министров образования: ключевые итоги

Ролик рассказывает о Международном конкурсе «Письмо Победы», стартовавшем 8 мая 2025 года в честь 80-летия Победы. В конкурсе приняли участие школьники из стран СНГ и Абхазии, а лучшие авторы были приглашены на образовательную поездку в Москву. Более 550 учащихся стали частью проекта, посвященного сохранению исторической памяти и воспитанию уважения к подвигу советского народа.
Международный конкурс «Письмо Победы»

Ролик посвящен международному проекту «Учу великому», в рамках которого с 2024 года проходят обучающие программы для преподавателей и студентов, изучающих и преподающих русский язык. За два года участниками Школ стали более 200 педагогов и студентов из стран СНГ, Азии, Ближнего Востока и Латинской Америки. Проект включает обучение современным методикам преподавания, культурно-просветительские программы и выездные форматы в разных странах, формируя международное профессиональное сообщество русистов.

Ролик рассказывает о яркой программе для кубинских школьников, которые провели незабываемые недели в России — от экскурсионной Москвы до побережья Черного моря в «Орлёнке». Ребята погрузились в изучение русского языка, творческие мастерские, культурные традиции и активный отдых, включая походы и спортивные занятия. Видео передает атмосферу дружбы, взаимопонимания и культурного обмена, которые сделали эту поездку по-настоящему особенной.
